Bushfire response vehicle project - Crew protection

Challenges

The system needed to provide a high level of fire performance , able to protect the combustible surfaces in the event of a full vehicle burn over. The coating also needed to be flexible and hard wearing, achieve a satisfactory level of finish as well as being able to be applied as part of the manufacturing process and custom fitted onto the vehicles.

Solution

The Temprotex F1ER was chosen to run trials due to its unique qualities. Following the successful performance in the burn over testing the Temprotex was chosen and specified for the project. The system is spray applied to the roof sections and then following curing, top-coated with required vehicle colour.

Temprotex^® F1ER is an high performance water based, fast drying, sprayable coating for use on car and truck bodies, plastic/composite panels, engine parts, flexible lines and hoses, HDEP, GRP, fibreglass, carbon fibre and almost any other composite surface. Heat insulating, vibration resistant, ductile, waterproof, nonflammable coating. Creates an ignition barrier on thermosets and other flammable, ductile items as well as reducing core temperatures.

Also effective fire/smoke protection on roll cage foam, padding, blankets, hoses, grommets and poly or silicone-based flammable components. Temprotex^® F1ER helps keep drivers safe from fire, heat and smoke.
