Challenges
This NSW bush block presented significant challenges due to limited site access, requiring generator-power for the airless spray equipment. The client needed an efficient fire protection paint for timber to safeguard subfloor timbers from bushfire exposure. The solution had to be applied to an existing subframe, deliver high-level fire resistance, enhance timber durability, and provide a proven, long-term coating solution for harsh Australian environments.
Solution
The client selected Fireshell® F1E and F1EHV fire resistant coatings for their proven performance in bushfire-prone environments. An EXFIRE-approved applicator, Pyroscape, spray-applied the coatings to subfloor timbers using high-powered airless equipment, completing the process in just two days. A small quantity of Fireshell® F1E was provided to the client for easy brush-and-roll application to posts and other areas, ensuring a flexible and efficient fire protection paint solution for timber.
Outcome
The Fireshell® F1E and F1EHV coatings provided an efficient and robust fire protection paint solution for timber, achieving a high fire-rating for the subfloor timbers. EXFIRE-approved applicators efficiently coated large sections in two days, while the client’s ability to apply Fireshell® F1E via brush-and-roll application to additional areas ensured a flexible, long-term solution, enhancing the structure’s safety and resilience against bushfire risks.
